Fall 2023
September 2023:
Rush – The first rush cycle after the founding class was formed to create Beta class! Activities included speed dating, BBQ, trivia, a bonfire, and a kickball tournament!

October 2023:
Hike for Hunger – Proceeds from the hike went directly to the Amherst Survival Center’s food and nutrition programs (also included the opportunity to pie a member of MED). We raised $1450!
November 2023:
The Jimmy Fund – Another opportunity to give back, where members of MED donated to the Jimmy Fund (a nonprofit organization supporting the fight against cancer)

Spring 2024
February 2024:
Rush Cycle #2 – The second cycle of rush to create our Gamma class! Activities this time around included speed dating, and an ice cream social that involved an intense egg drop competition

UPenn Dental Zoom Presentation – Hearing from a Penn admissions officer on what UPenn Dental School is looking for and how to stand out as an applicant!
UVM Larner College of Medicine Zoom Presentation – Hearing from doctors at UVM about what it is like at UVM and how to stand out when applying to medical school!
March 2024:
Suturing Clinic – An amazing opportunity exposing students to different types of sutures and techniques with hands-on practice!

Collaboration with PERIOD – An insightful discussion with the club PERIOD to discuss inequalities in healthcare, women’s health, and period poverty
April 2024:
University of Rochester Medical School Zoom Presentation – Learning about the admissions process for medical students and how to stand out as an applicant!
Advanced Suturing Clinic – Another opportunity to practice suturing techniques with hands-on experience (learning even more types of suturing, and competing for a prize!)

Krispy Kreme Fundraiser – Another fundraiser where we raised $830!

Out of the Darkness Walk – A meaningful walk around campus with other organizations to show solidarity for suicide prevention awareness

Scavenger Hunt – A fun and friendly competition where groups of 3 raced to fulfill a set of tasks with picture proof

Barbecue – A fun MED social event with delicious food and good company (a perfect way to wrap up the semester)
Fall 2024
September 2024:
Rush Cycle #3 – The third cycle of rush to create our Delta class! Activities included speed dating, a cookout, and a fierce bridge making competition

October 2024:
Pre-Med Information Session – A very useful presentation on everything from the med school application process, to what classes you need to take, how to sign up for the MCAT, and more, presented by one of our very own members!
Halloween Fun – From a murder mystery night to a monstober movie night, fun social activities were in store to get into the halloween spirit!
Krispy Kreme Fundraiser – Our first fundraiser of the semester!

Apple Picking – A fun outing on a beautiful October afternoon near Amherst for apple picking!

MED Olympics – Done over three afternoons throughout the semester, each class competed to win through different activities such as tug of war, human tic tac toe, and a three-legged race

Pre-Dental Information Session – Another useful presentation for our pre-dental members that covers the ins and outs of pursuing dental school
November 2024:
Hike for Hunger – Once again, proceeds went directly to the Amherst Survival Center, and we raised $2187!

Date Night Party – Our first ever date night party at Gabe’s Underground!

Gastroenterologist Guest Speaker – We were able to hear about the path through medical school, residency, and the day-to-day life of a real doctor and his experience!

Suturing Clinic – Back at it with another suturing clinic to hone our suturing skills

MED Bingo – It’s exactly what it sounds like, a quick and fun social event with the classic game of bingo
Mental Health Event – An important event to reflect on the stressors in our lives and how to conquer them in a healthy way
PA Information Session – A session for our PA members on the ins and outs of PA school
DEI Event – An important presentation, hosted by one of our own members, on how to recognize the similarities and differences between us, and acknowledge them to be better in the world of healthcare
Spring 2025
February 2025:
Valentines Day Card-Making – Fun first social event of the semester! Low-key event where everyone made Valentine’s Day cards
Rush Cycle #4 – The fourth cycle of rush to form our Epsilon class! Activities included the usual information session, speed dating, and a hot chocolate social

Game Night – A fun night of fan favorite games such as Uno and Jeopardy
March 2025:
BU Dental Admissions Information Session – A good insight into the application process of applying to the dental school at Boston University
Big/Little Reveal – A fun reveal of the bigs/littles in the Delta and Epsilon Class

Stop the Bleed – A training hosted by members of the military on bleed control and how to bandage wounds quickly and efficiently
Kornberg School of Dentistry Information Session – An informative session on dental school admissions from an admission officer at Temple University
MCPHS PA Information Session – An informative session for PA school admissions from an admission officer at MCPHS
Semi-Formal – MED’s first semi-formal! A fun night of dancing and hanging out with other MED members

April 2025:
Tufts Dental Admissions Information Session – An informative session from an admissions officer on the process of applying to dental school at Tufts
UPenn Dental Admissions Information Session – Another information session from an admissions officer on applying to dental school at UPenn
Boston Celtics Doctor Guest Speaker – Hearing firsthand what its like to work for the Celtics, and the path that Dr. Schena took to get there

AFSP Bracelet Making – Bracelet making for a good cause (for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention)!
UVM Medical Admissions Information Session – An informative session on applying to medical school at UVM from an admissions officer
Period Simulator – A fun yet informative event on the reality of menstruation
Grad Programs Information Session – A presentation on grad school programs and what to expect post-grad
Mental Health Event – A necessary insight into managing mental health through tough times such as midterms and other healthcare endeavors

Pie-a-Brother – A fun opportunity and a good cause in one! The opportunity to pie-a-brother AND raise funds for UMass Miracles!

MGH PA Admissions Information Session – An inside look into admissions for PA school at MGH from an admissions officer!
Formal – MED’s first formal! A wonderful send-off for the seniors, and a fun night of dancing, food, and a good time for everyone

UCLA Medical Admissions Information Session – Hearing from a UCLA admissions officer on the application process at the medical school

Rush Cycle #5 – Our fifth rush cycle welcomed the newest MED class with a fresh round of speed dating, info sessions, and energizing social events.

Headshot Event – A professional yet relaxed opportunity for members to update their headshots for LinkedIn, graduate school applications, and future career needs.
October 2025:
Petting Zoo Event – A lighthearted and stress-relieving afternoon where members got to unwind with friendly animals.

Jaime Anderson NP Guest Speaker – Nurse Practitioner Jaime Anderson shared valuable insight into advanced practice nursing, patient care, and navigating the NP career path.
Krispy Kreme Fundraiser/GOL Drive – A combined fundraiser and donation drive supporting the Out of the Darkness initiative, bringing in both funds and awareness for mental health advocacy.
DEI in Healthcare – An impactful discussion on how diversity, equity, and inclusion shape patient outcomes and the responsibilities of future healthcare professionals.
Suture Clinic – Hands-on clinical workshop where members practiced essential suturing skills with guided instruction.
Hike for Hunger – Continuing our annual tradition, MED members hiked to raise funds for the Amherst Survival Center’s food and nutrition programs supporting the community while enjoying the outdoors.
November 2025:
Powerpoint Party – A fun and creative social where members presented humorous, niche, or passionate PowerPoints.
Inverted Painting Dexterity Event – Unique dexterity event where students painted while upside down or inverted, sharpening fine-motor control in a fun, artistic way.
Dr Van Orenstein Dentist Speaker – Dr. Orenstein offered an insightful look into the dental profession, from dental school to daily practice and patient care.
Dr Erika Haydu Guest Speaker – Dr. Haydu shared her professional journey and discussed life as a healthcare provider, giving members a real-world perspective on the field.
Date Party – A lively and social evening at Gabe’s Underground, bringing members together for a fun night out to celebrate the semester.
